SENIOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2015- The boys travelled to Portadown to take on Tir Na nOg in the League on Sunday past in what was expected by many to be a fairly comfortable trip. However Tir Na nOg did not read the script and in a fairly lack lustre and at times wasteful first half by Harps the boys went in at the break 0-09 to 1-04 behind. Nippy contributed 1-01 with Mini hitting 0-2 and Whitey adding a point.
Harps began the second half with renewed vigour and took the lead after 10 minutes when Nippy netted. Harps began a period of dominance and looked to be coasting to victory after good scores from McElroy, Swift and Loughran . However despite Harps dominance and Eoin Fields stealing in to score the third goal Tir Na nOg failed to lie down and responded with a couple of points and a goal against the run of play to level on 3-09 to 1-15 with five minutes left! Again Harps showed their experience and will to win and added scores through a superb Joe McElroy point and a monster 55 metre free from the returning Ultan Lennon gave Harps two valuable points.
This certainly was far from the best performance of the season but it keeps Harps on target for the League title. There’s now a break from League action before the battle recommences away to Maghery.

However the boys were not deterred and played some wonderful football in the first half to lead 1-05 to 1-0 at the break. Despite the very warm conditions the boys kept up the pace on the restart to lead by 9 points before Og’s pointed a couple of late scores to leave Harps winners 1-09 to 1-03.
